The day started off very early when our friends, Tara and Steve, picked us up at 5:30am for our 8am flight. Thanks you guys!!
When we checked in at the Air Canada desk we were shocked when they told us that the flight was overbooked and that, we were on standby. After about an hour we were finally told that we had been assigned seats. Yea!!!
We arrived in Winnipeg bright and early and were met by a couple of familiar folks. Art and Mark have been driving for the Voyageur Festival for ages and they are appreciated. In fact, a few years ago when Terry hurt his wrist, Art drove Terry and Theressa to the hospital and waited 4 hours. Today, Art dropped us off at Mountain Equipment Coop and then picked us up afterwards. It, too, was appreciated, especially by Theressa who is still nursing some injuries, but actually didn’t want to walk outside in, what she calls a blizzard, but was actually a light dusting of snow with some wind (HAHA). Thanks Art and Mark … and all of the other drivers who get the sculptors to the site on a daily basis.
We have settled in at THE FORT GARRY and can actually rest before the meeting tonight. There, we get together with Carole (YEA !!!), as well as meet the other sculptors and draw for our block. Then, tomorrow it is had at it. I will be posting many photos over the next few days.
