This time we are off to Whitehorse, Yukon to compete in the Air Canada International Snow Sculpture Challenge. We will be competing against teams from Japan, Spain, Switzerland, Argentina, United States and several from Canada. What makes this competition interesting is that there are no rules. Also, you can’t apply to compete, as it is completely invitation only. This will be our second trip up to the Yukon. I should mention that Kim Strange is coming up with us this year. This will be his first carve since last years’ painful ice-block in Quebec City.
The Swiss team arrived on the same plane as us and one of them was overheard asking where to buy more WARM clothing.
We just got back from the meet-n-greet with the other sculptors. It was very informal and very relaxed. They do things a wee bit different up here in regards to the drawing of the blocks. Teams were drawn out of a hat and they had to go up and pick a block. We decided on block #4 because we believe that it is in the right location for the sun creating shadows.
That’s it folks. Again, we would appreciate any comments you have.
