Some of you may ask … where is Kiruna? Well, it is a 90 minute plane ride north of Stockholm, Sweden. We arrived late last night and after some very anxious moments when our tools didn’t show up right away (they did), we met the other teams and went to the hotel. We wanted to wind down with a drink but couldn’t find any place open, so Team Spain joined us for a glass of Grappe.
The day started of a little slow (might have been the 4 hour sleep), but after some hot breakfast we proceeded to the carving site. We drew the first block and were extremely happy with that. It was a cold -25c (compared to last week’s 4C in Pontebba, Italy) that warmed up a little, but also produced a bunch of snow.
