Whitehorse – The Aftermath
We decided to stick around the site until after the awards ceremony which meant that we had almost three hours to kill. For part of that, at least one of us was out at the block because we had a video component as part of our sculpture. We needed to watch and make sure the equipment was safe and still running. For the rest of the time we visited in the warm-up area with the other carvers. It was nice relaxing time.
We were all introduced to the very large crowd at the awards ceremony, which had been moved into a large tent thankfully. Once the introductions were done the public’s choice awards and the jury award were handed out. The big winners were Quebec who, coincidentally were our neighbors, did a snack trailer. They won the jury award and were the public’s choice. Rounding out the awards were Yukon and Alaska.
After the awards we were entertained by the local snowshoe dancers. What a hoot!
