Travel Day — Edmonton’s Silver Skate Festival

Team Snow Art broke new ground today. For the first time ever, we are flying to our next event in Edmonton without ANY checked baggage. That’s right folk!!! No clothing AND no tools. We are placing all our trust in our good friend Joyce, who is driving up to Edmonton today. She will be bringing 2 tool bags and clothing bags for Theressa, Terry and Kim. This will save us at least $150 in baggage fees.

The opening reception is at the festival site tonight. Hopefully Kim’s flight arrives on time so that he gets to the site early enough to enjoy it. He had to take a later flight because he still has to teach classes this afternoon. Theressa is worried about how cold it’s going to be standing around for a couple of hours, so she made sure that she brought her ski pants in her carry-on luggage.

It is my plan to update the site with photos at the end of each day. If things go well, I might even be able to add some photos during the day while we are carving. Those photos may go straight to Facebook.

We’d like to send a quick shout out to our friend and fellow Team Snow Art member Carole. She isn’t carving with us this year and we won’t be in Winnipeg to see her at next week’s Festival du Voyageur. HeHo!!

Lastly, please send good wishes for cooler weather. The forecast shows 0C on Saturday and 4C on Sunday. We would like to see a consistent -10C all the way through. That’s warm enough for folks to enjoy the festival and cool enough for the snow to be carved.

Good luck to our fellow carvers and may the popcorn snow be non-existent.

This just in — We have all made it to Edmonton including our wonderful driver Joyce, who had to travel through a snow storm east of Edmonton. Thankfully she missed a couple of accidents — we are very grateful!!
