2010 Winnipeg Day 0 – Artist Statement

We arrived in Winnipeg just in time for lunch. We were introduced to Team Argentina and took them under our wing. They had been traveling for three days to get here and were hungry. It’s a good thing one of them spoke some English because my Spanish is extremely limited. I guess after I learn French I should learn Spanish.

Anyways, we were excited to see a magazine in our hotel room that had a photo of the piece that we did here last year gracing its’ cover. Two years in a row…WOW!!!

About this year’s sculpture — it is called TOPSY-TURVY. The artist’s statement is “Life is infinitely changing with all its’ ups and downs. One moment you feel like your riding on top of it all and the next you feel like everything is on top of you. It’s a topsy-turvy world.” Here are a couple of views.

This year, we came to Winnipeg by ourselves. The man in charge Gary, a great sculptor himself, has found a third that will be carving alongside us. You know what that means don’t you? That’s right, less work for Terry. He heard a rumor as to who it is, but will confirm later tonight.
