We are back in Edmonton at the Silver Skate Festival for the first time since 2007. It is a small block (4ft x 4ft x 8ft) and the snow is quite good. The weather was warm (too warm) and parts of the block had some ice on it from previous warm days.
We put a tarp up on the south side to protect the snow. This means that we don’t touch this side until it begins to freeze once again. Things have been progressing well and some of the other teams think we are almost done. We don’t agree with their assessment.
We are joined by teams from Argentina, Mexico and Gabon (he was stuck in Paris I think sorting out Visa problems) as well as from Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Saturday we carve for 8 hours and then Sunday for 2 hours. For those of you who are wondering what we are doing…it is called “Extreme Sledder” and it based loosely on the SKELETON at the Olympics.
