Home 2013 February Winnipeg’s Festival du Voyageur

Winnipeg’s Festival du Voyageur

After what seemed a never ending day, we arrived in Winnipeg 4 hours late after having about 1 hour of sleep over the last 36 hours.

We are here in Winnipeg to participate in the International Snow Sculpture Symposium starting on Wed, Feb 13. This evening, we were at the St. Boniface Museum to meet the organizers and other teams. Also, we drew block 6 … which really means nothing until we see the placement in the morning. Carole Dagenais, one of our regular teammates, will be carving alongside Theressa and Terry.

Teams are from Estonia, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Germany, Argentina, Guatemala, United States, Canada and Nova Scotia. We have just over 3 days to carve something from a 12ft by 12ft by 10ft high block.

Our piece is called SNOW’S MAGIC — A beautiful woman admiring the fresh fallen snow and the magical transformation that has taken place around her.

This is a sketch of what we will be carving over the next three days. Click on image for full size.

Look for more posts later Wednesday.
