Sights of Beijing

Here are a couple of photos from our last night in Harbin.

We left Harbin on Monday morning heading to Beijing, where we are going to spend 5 days being tourists.

After two days of being tourists, we can honestly tell you that Beijing is big. The traffic is crazy and the pedestrians are even crazier. The street vendors have been like vultures at the exits of each attraction and sometimes even inside. Theressa and Carole have been spared most of the hard-selling as the vendors seem to be approaching the men first. Kim has done some pretty good haggling just by walking away. One chap started off at 200RMB per book and eventually sold two for 30RMB.

We visited a Tea House late on the first day and had a great time. Our hostess was wonderful and really knew how to sell tea. We tried six different teas and even Terry (the non tea-drinking member) enjoyed this.

After supper, we went to a Kung Fu show which, as Carole said, was more dance than Kung Fu.
