Home 2019 February 2019 Voyageur Festival — Winnipeg

2019 Voyageur Festival — Winnipeg

Well, it’s the day before we start carving tomorrow. We left Saskatoon this morning and it was COLD. Winnipeg (or Summerpeg) is downright balmy right now (-9C vs Saskatoon’s -25C). Terry was walking around without a jacket and loving it.

The weather for this week will be cooler than today, but it’s nothing we can’t handle.

We were met at the airport by a familiar face, Eugene. He has driven us many times over the years. He had some free time once he picked us up so was willing to run some errands with us. Great guy!  THANKS.

Our carving partner this week is Kim Strange. It’s been a couple of years since he carved with us in Edmonton. Carole Dagenas, our other teammate from Winnipeg was asked by Geertje from Germany to carve three blocks with her this year. They were in St. Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec last week, Winnipeg this week and Yellowknife, NWT next week. So … this will be the first time since 2012 that the four of us will be in the same place at the same time.

It is the 50th Voyageur Festival this year so we tried to incorporate that into our design. I think Theressa came up with a wonderful plan.

We’ll be posting daily photos and blog entries.
